Introducing Cassinia Properties: Find your place in nature

After two decades of large-scale landscape restoration, Cassinia Environmental is taking a new step to support long-term conservation outcomes: the launch of Cassinia Properties.

This new web platform connects restored properties with conservation-minded individuals who are ready to become long-term stewards of the land. It reflects a core belief that conservation doesn’t end with restoration but continues through responsible stewardship.

You’re invited to be part of it.

A logical extension of Cassinia’s work

Cassinia Environmental has worked for over 20 years to restore, reconnect and protect landscapes across Australia. Much of this work involves identifying ecologically significant land, restoring habitat, improving biodiversity corridors, and establishing long-term protections through mechanisms like Trust for Nature conservation covenants.

Once this restoration work is complete, the question becomes ‘What next?’

That’s where Cassinia Properties comes in.

Rather than holding restored land indefinitely, Cassinia is now providing opportunities for individuals and communities to take on long-term responsibility for its care. Through Cassinia Properties, buyers can purchase ecologically significant land and step into the role of land steward, managing it according to tailored conservation plans and enjoying the sustainable lifestyle and benefits it provides.

With this model, property sales will directly fund future restoration work, creating a virtuous cycle of conservation across Australia.

Property types

While conventional property sales focus on development potential, Cassinia properties focus on ecological potential. The properties on offer include:

  • Individual Conservation Properties (Available now): Restored private properties, usually protected by a conservation covenant, with provision for a domestic living area and long-term management responsibilities. For those looking to immerse themselves in nature, protect biodiversity and enjoy the tranquility of a private bushland retreat.
  • Natural Agriculture Communities (Coming soon): A shared stewardship model where multiple landowners manage a larger landscape collectively, combining sustainable agriculture with biodiversity protection.

At launch, Cassinia Properties has 5 diverse properties across Victoria on the market, and 7 more coming soon, with expressions of interest now open.

These include a 50 hectare native plant haven backing onto the beach in Woodside, a koala-friendly Myamyn property situated within the Annya State forest and a 260 hectare slice of Mallee bushland featuring an existing fitted out dwelling in Tutye.

All properties are located in Victoria and have been selected for their ecological significance, hosting a range of threatened species and native vegetation communities. Many of the properties have already undergone restoration through targeted revegetation or environmental offsets. Now, it’s time for the next stewards to take over.

Why own a conservation property?

Owning a conservation property offers the chance to play a direct role in protecting Australia’s biodiversity while enjoying the lifestyle benefits of a natural landscape. Conservation properties come with long‑term responsibilities, but also meaningful rewards. Key benefits include:

Protect nature

Conservation properties are often protected in perpetuity through conservation covenants and associated management plans. By becoming a land steward, you help ensure that native habitat, threatened species and ecological values are protected forever.

Save on land tax

In Victoria, properties protected by a Trust for Nature covenant can be eligible for land tax exemption, a financial benefit unique to conservation land ownership.

Enjoy a bushland retreat

Many conservation property owners describe the experience as being a ‘park ranger’ of their own land, caring for habitat, observing native species, and watching the landscape evolve over time.

Whether you’re camping, using it as a weekend getaway, or exploring options for a future dwelling (subject to planning approvals and covenant conditions), stewardship offers a unique opportunity for you and your family to reconnect with nature on a personal level.

The creation of Cassinia Properties also responds to a broader challenge in the conservation sector: how to ensure that protected landscapes remain actively managed over time, especially when public funding and resourcing are limited.

By offering opportunities for private stewardship, Cassinia is contributing to the development of a conservation economy, one where people can live, work and care for the land in ways that are ecologically and economically sustainable.

Cassinia Properties is now live and ready to be explored. Go discover how you could become a steward of one of Australia’s most precious landscapes.
